Packing Guide

Use the proper packing materials, it will payoff in the long run! Sturdy moving boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts can all be purchased from Dolan Moving. We also carry wardrobe boxes, picture cartons and specialty boxes, and we offer free delivery to our customers. 
 
The following is a list of items needed to make the packing go smoothly:
•Razor knife and/or Scissors
•Dark, water resistant marker
•Boxes of all sizes
•Packing tape (No duct tape!)
•Bubble wrap
•Paper paper
Pack one room at a time, make sure to  label each box appropriately (on top and side) with a description of  contents and which room the box belongs in. 
 
Empty all drawers of breakable  items. Keep screws and bolts to any items you dismantle in a plastic bag and label.  
 
Do not pack flammable goods like propane tanks, aerosol cans, oil based paints, and certain cleaning fluids. Basically you should not pack anything that is flammable or will leak or spill. See a complete list of items you should not pack.
 
Wrap items individually and always place a layer of crushed paper in the bottom of the carton for cushioning. Fill empty spaces with additional crushed paper.
 
Make sure cartons are firmly packed with heavier items on bottom and lighter ones on top. Make sure you completely fill the carton.
 
If you'll be putting some boxes in storage, make sure to pack according to the seasons during which your things will be in storage and mark the boxes accordingly.
 
Put heavy items like tools, weights, books and cangoods in small boxes.
Pack dishes with several layers of paper between each dish. Wrap 3 to 4 dishes together and stand on edge in the box
 
Plan ahead for what you'll need the first day after your move. Pack a separate box with your toiletries, a change of clothes, etc. and mark it "First Out". Remember to reserve a few empty cartons for those all-important last-minute items like toiletries, bed linens, aspirin and coffee.
 
Remember: Movers are not responsible for damage to items you've packed. It's best to let the professionals pack your breakable and fragile items. Movers are prohibited from moving certain items, such as aerosols, loaded guns and even nail polish remover. And you may want to personally carry certain valuables, such as important documents, jewelry and family photographs.
